Anonymous Donor Helps Pantry

In the last month applications reassure us that the Cedar Hill Food Pantry is an oasis for the needy. Many of these families are just living on the brink. A single mother of three children came in to apply for food assistance. She had just heard about the Food Pantry. They had been living on just noodles. Another older single man came in and was eating food from the snack basket we had on the counter. These are people that are looking for work or working part-time and are so thankful for the food they receive. One neighbor said they had exhausted their retirement savings and pawned every material thing in their household. A lady came in several months ago and had lost her husband and son within a two-week period. She said, "When I said the Lord's Prayer and said, "Give us this day our daily bread, I never thought there would be a day I would be without bread.

We do have neighbors who desperately need this Pantry. We are purchasing more food from retail grocers because of a shortage at the North Texas Food Bank. This morning as I wrote another check to a grocer and stopped at the post office there was a check from Anonymous Fund of the Texas Dallas Foundation in the amount of $5000. This grant is designated toward support of the general operating budget. This frees up other moneys to purchase food for our neighbors needing help. We depend totally on  donated funds. We receive no City, State or Federal funding to make it possible to continue our mission to feed the hungry in Cedar Hill ISD. Thank you, who ever you are, that gave us this wonderful gift.

See the story on CBS11TV.com for more information

Every day the government is shut down makes it that much harder for Cedar Hill Food Pantry to receive food from North Texas Food Bank to feed our 1400 individuals we see each month right here in Cedar Hill.
