Cause to Celebrate

I am so excited! I was given the pleasure of being at Cedar Hill Food Pantry on Sat. Nov 16 when Trinity Church and School brought in Thanksgiving dinners for our clients. The parking lot looked like a busy ant hill with members from the church bringing food and making the bags containing all the trimmings. Pictured are members of the congregation that were helping Sat. morning. We love Trinity Church. Besides the 133 turkeys and bags of food, the congregation has donated over $3000 generated by the church and it's members. This has allowed us to go purchase enough turkeys and food items to make the meal for all 250 families we serve.

Our truck has been on the road picking up donations from schools and organizations all over town. On Nov. 11 High Point Home Owners brought in over 2000 items. Last week we had a large delivery from the 9th Grade Center and one from the Life School. This week we have received over 600 items from Permenter Middle School and have pick up scheduled from Lake Ridge and Highlands Elementary school.

Red Robin Restaurant of Cedar Hill wanted to make sure no one would have to celebrate the Thanksgiving Day alone. They have awarded the Pantry 200 vouchers for cheeseburger and fries to give to eligible families who would not otherwise have a Thanksgiving meal.

We Are Thankful

T'is the season to think of others and the schools, churches, home owner organizations, businesses and fraternities  in Cedar Hill are doing their part to help take care of 247 families making up their needy neighbors.
Pictured above are some of the students and staff of Cedar Hill Life School.
I don't have pictures from the other organizations. If any of you out there have pictures we would love to post them. Donations are truly adding up. Life School, 1083 items, High Point Home Owners Association 2000 items, Cedar Hill Theater 235 lbs of food, High Point Baptist Church, First Methodist Church Cedar Hill, St. Ann Episcopal Church DeSoto, 9th Grade Center, Prosperity Bank, Kappa Alpha Phi Fraternity and Trinity Church and School  so far. I'm sorry if I have left out anyone. Trinity Church is providing The turkey and food to make up the Thanksgiving meal.

All 247 families will be receiving their "regular" food donations plus the Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 18, 20,22 & 23. The Pantry will be closed for distribution the week of Nov. 25-30.
