Pantry Wins Award

Out of 260 member agencies North Texas Food Bank names Cedar Hill Food Pantry the recipient of the coveted Excellence in Innovation award for the services we give to our community.
Since 2006 when we opened our New2You Thrift Store it  has helped support the mission of the Food Pantry. The Thrift Store is a great place for our neighbors to recycle their used clothes, household items and furniture that are then sold at very reasonable prices back to the community with the net proceeds coming to the Food Pantry.
We are proud that in 2013, for the first time, we were approved as one of the local charities to benefit from The Dallas Morning News Charities annual fund drive.
In 2012 and 2013 we were part of the North Texas Day of Giving Campaign.
In 2014 we became a member of the Texas Health and Human Service Commission Community Partners program to help our clients apply for SNAP, TANF, CHIPS and Medicaid benefits.
Our current facility is obsolete and very inefficient. Our staff and volunteers spend way too much time trying to fit everything in our limited space. We have raised the funds and purchased the land for a new facility. We are currently in the design phase for the building as well as selecting a contractor. The proposed new building will be 15,000 sq. ft.
We utilize approximately 75 volunteers working over 600 hours each month to fulfill our mission. This keeps our labor cost to a bare minimum in order to maximize our budget. We operate under a very detailed annual budget. Any variances are explained in our monthly Financial Report to the Board of Directors.
