Smiles of Thanksgiving

What a wonderful week we have had! The students and staff from Village Tech Schools, Cedar Hill did an incredible job of starting our 2014 Thanksgiving preparations. In one day, Sat. Nov. 8 they brought contents and made Thanksgiving dinners for 150 less fortunate families from their community. There were kids everywhere (even in the walk-in frig. That is always a fun place to visit anytime kids take a tour of the building.) In addition to the dinner contents they presented CHFP with a check in the amount of $1,439 to purchase turkeys to complete the meals.

Various individuals have dropped by this week with food, turkeys and checks.

Sat. Nov. 15 the parking lot was again full. This time it was with our friends from Trinity Church, Cedar Hill. They came and came and brought food and more food. They came bearing more than just food. They brought checks in the amount of $2,800 for turkeys and restocking shelves. In a little over one hour they delivered and made 150 Thanksgiving meals. I had to stop them - we had bags for all 250 families by this time and no room on the shelves. There was still food left so we loaded it all up on dollies and shoved them in the corner to refill the shelves after over 7,000 items will be given out Nov. 17 - Nov 22.

There will be peace and thankfulness this Thanksgiving. Parents will be able to sleep knowing their children will be going to bed with full tunnies.

Thank each and every member of our community that have banned together to watch out and provide for their neighbors. I can honestly say Cedar Hill is a one of a kind city. It is full of loving, caring people. Cedar Hill Food Pantry is lucky to have such love to support us.
