Twenty of Cedar Hill's finest ladies will don clothes from New2You and become professional models for the day. Guest will be served a scrumptious lunch prepared by Babe's Chicken, Cotton Patch and Dick's Uptown Cafe. After lunch you will be entertained by David Hira, world famed magician. What more can you ask for? The good feeling it will give you to know your $20 ticket will provide 80 meals for your Cedar Hill neighbors. Tickets may be purchased at both New2You Thrift Store or Cedar Hill Food Pantry.

Gene's Corner - July 2011

Who turned the furnace up? It has not been this hot since 1980. What do kids do when it is too hot to go outside and play? They eat. The number of families turning to Cedar Hill Food Pantry for assistance went from 314 to 341 during the month of June.
You can tell many of these kids fix their own meals. The Pantry is completely out of peanut butter, soup and mac & cheese. Unfortunately, these three items have not been on the in-stock grocery list at North Texas Food Bank meaning we will have to go to the local grocery and purchase. During a "normal" month the Pantry provides over 3900meals. That number is on the rise. We receive no city, state or federal funding. We rely totally on donations from our Cedar Hill "neighbors helping their neighbors".

It seems like school just let out and it is time to think about school supplies again. The Cedar Hill ISD along with CH Rotary is having a Back to School event on Aug 18, from 6:00pm - 8:30pm. Low income students will receive a backpack full of school supplies. Watch for further details in the upcoming weeks.

We are still in need of a 3/4 ton pick-up truck. At present, we have a contract with a part-time employee for pick-up donated food from local merchants. He is using his own truck and is concerned with the 'wear and tear' on his vehicle.
